Texte original

On Friday the 22nd Instant about 2 P.M. a small sail was distinctly seen North West distant about 16 leagues steering apparently about West having every reason to think her a Brigand leaving at the same time a Brigand that morning sail from the Roads caused us to take no further notice of or make a report of her.  But learnt the next morning that the Brig which sailed was only Six leagues from the land at sunset as there were very light winds.  I did not see any more of this in consequence of a heavy squal passing in that direction – but was distinctly seen by.
